| Progress Lighting |
Upon entering the already dim theater dome, what do you notice? Are you stumbling all over yourself trying to figure out where the wall is; is the floor level or are there steps; where are the seats? For that matter, where is the screen? That scenario is pretty unusual. Why? The theater has lighting on the walls, the ceiling and even the floor.
What is the first thing you notice? How are we able to see in the theater? The wall sconces contemporary lighting casts a soft glow over the entry way. Well that makes it easier, doesn’t it? The theater in my area has a form of contemporary wall sconce but I have also seen some with the traditional form of indoor wall lights. These lights can really improve the romantic feel in a theater when you have just seated yourself in a seat that someone left a huge chunk of used gum in.
These wall sconces seem to be the most practical and versatile in terms of space, especially in the theater. Now, you round the corner and what awaits you? Steps. How will you manage your way up the steps in darkness? That isn’t an issue in most theaters due to the stair step lights. These handy, dandy little strips of light illuminate the steps in a way that prevents you from falling into the lap of that good looking guy (or gal) you saw standing in the popcorn line. Darn stair step lights! Well, better luck next time.
The movie is now ready to begin. The wall sconces contemporary lighting is dimmed; the indoor wall lights are turned off; the stair step lights are still on. There’s a soft glow which still flows through the theater. Ah, lighting.
The movie ends and you go home but upon arriving you realize that you forgot to leave the outside lights on. Again, the “camera” and “action” portion of the director’s order don’t play a major role in this scenario. While walking up the steps you have an epiphany. What if you had outside step lights? Wouldn’t that be a hoot? No more stumbling up the steps while you dig in your purse or pocket for your keys. Now that would really make things easier. Additionally, if you picked up the cute guy (or gal) you bumped into in the theater and they walked you home, the two of you would be basking in the romantic illumination of these outside step lights. That would be a movie night worth talking about.
